Josh & Laurie on Maryland Today

Monday, June 12, 2017

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of heading down to WPOC at The Rotunda to hang with avid runner & DJ Jeff St. Pierre, CCR owner Josh Levinson and BWC and Cancerve founder Laurie Amatucci. I was simply there to coordinate logistics and merely a fly on the wall while the other three chatted Mercy Baltimore Women’s Classic 5K for Maryland Today which airs on WPOC, WZFT and WQSR.

I have been part of this race for almost five years, so I was not anticipating learning anything new. I was wrong. I left the interview completely moved by Laurie’s story and the history of the event, and inspired by it’s purpose – to better the lives of women undergoing cancer treatment. Personally, my two aunts and cousin are breast cancer survivors, so I am no stranger to the impact this horrible disease has on entire families. I also know that I am unfortunately not alone and that all of us know someone who has fought cancer. The work Cancerve does is extremely important and I’m proud that our race provides much needed funding.

If you are looking for inspiration, I urge you to listen to the interview below and I truly hope you will join us for the 2017 Mercy BWC 5K on June 25th at Rash Field!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: ASHLEY LINES

An alumni of Loyola College and University of Baltimore, Ashley began her Charm City Run career in 2012 as a freelance graphic designer and marketer. In 2014, she came on full-time as the Marketing Director and hasn’t looked back since.

Ashley started running in 2008 when she brought home an energetic husky puppy. After 3 chewed cell phones, 2 pairs of glasses, half a wardrobe and numerous destroyed throw pillows, she began running Cali every morning while her husband, Brad, ran in the evening to tire her out. Now, Cali prefers the bed to the pavement and Ashley tries to squeeze in miles around the hills of Catonsville in between caring for her daughters Zoe and Scarlett.
